Salaspils Camp was a repressive punishment camp created by Nazi Germany in
occupied Latvia. The Camp was created as an “extended police prison” for political prisoners,
and in the summer of 1942, its purpose was extended as a “labor correction camp” for
those who did not follow work regulations.
As the powers were changing, the camp was destroyed, but later on during the Soviet times the memorial was created to remember its victims.
The memorial is located just outside Riga borders. Thanks to this tour it's easy to reach it within a 30min drive.
